The Syrian President vows to crush what he describes as a foreign plot against his country, Voice of Russia reported.

During a meeting with members of an Iranian delegation in Damascus, Bashar Assad said the Syrian people would not let the plotters reach their objectives and was determined to crush them whatever the cost.

Syria “keeps fighting” despite “concerted attempts otherwise by the West and some neighboring countries,” the President said adding that the ongoing confrontation was reflecting on the entire Middle East.

An estimated 17,000 people have died in Syria since anti-government protests flared up about 18 months ago.
