U.S. Department of State: We believe use of force will not resolve Nagorno-Karabakh conflict
U.S. remains deeply committed to working with the sides to achieve a peaceful settlement to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, U.S. Department of State Acting Deputy Spokesperson Patrick Ventrell told a press briefing.
According to the U.S. Department of State official website, an Azerbaijani TV journalist asked Mr Ventrell what was discussed about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict during the recent meeting between Secretary of State John Kerry and Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in Istanbul.
Patrick Ventrell said, “Just to say that -- again I'm not aware exactly in what context that might have come up in the secretary's visit to Turkey, but to reiterate, the U.S. and you know we're a co-chair of the Minsk Group, we remain deeply committed to working with the sides to achieve a peaceful settlement to the conflict. So, we believe the use of force will not resolve the conflict, and we call upon all parties to refrain from the use, or threat of the use of force.”
