CENTRAL BANK PRESIDENT AS PRIME MINISTER
Today the Armenian Republican party held a meeting and affirmed Tigran Sargsyan’s candidature for the position of the Prime Minister of the RA. 90 members from total 98 ones present at the party affirmed the candidature of the Central Bank president to be assigned as the Prime Minister of the country.
The oath giving ceremony of the new president will be held on 9 April in the Opera and Ballet national Academy named after A. Spendiaryan. According to the Constitution the president after giving the oath should name the new prime minister within 10 days. And the government is formed within 20 days after the appointment of the prime minister.
Tigran Sargsyan was born in 29 January, 1960 in Kirovakan city. In 1978-1980 he studied at the Economic Institute in the faculty of economy and planning, and 1980-1983 he graduated from the finance-economic institute named after I. A. Voznesenski in Leningrad. He is a candidate of economic sciences, and since 2005 PHD of Yerevan State economic university.
From 1987-1990 he worked in the institute of economy and planning as the head of the international affairs department. 1990-1991 seminars coordinator held on the items and reforms organized fro bankers.
1993-1994 held lectures at the Yerevan state university. 1990-1995 deputy of the Supreme Council. Since 1998 March 3 he has been the president of the Central Bank of the RA.
