Vladimir Zhirinovsky: Turkey should recognize genocide of 1915, return ethnic lands to Armenia
Head of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia Vladimir Zhirinovsky praised the decision of the French Parliament to criminalize the denial of the Armenian Genocide, according to party’s official website.
The Liberal Democratic Party of Russia has long been pointing to the necessity of recognition of the Armenian Genocide, the source said.
“Around 1.5 million people fell victim to the tragic events of 1915, and it is inhumane to close eyes to it,” Zhirinovsky said. “The events of 1915 April are classed among the darkest pages in the history of mankind. No other nation has been killed in such a cruel way, neither in Europe nor in Asia. A direct extermination of a people based on ethnicity took place nearly a century ago. Today the world speaks of democracy, and the whole international community should recognize the Armenian Genocide. Turkey should admit to the crime and return the ethnic lands to Armenia.”
