Iranians will make their mind on the election day next to ballot boxes – Vardan Voskanyan
Judging from the election campaign in Iran we can state two major fronts are competing in the presidential race with the reformists headed by incumbent President Hasan Rouhani and the conservatives led by cleric Evrahim Raisi, expert in Iran Vardan Voskanyan told a press conference on Thursday.
“These two candidates are the main contenders for the presidential post. At this round, it remains highly difficult to predict the victory of one of them, since the opinion polls suggest equal chances for them. However, Iranian voters are quite unpredictable and often change their decisions. That is to say, the outcome of the elections will be decided on the voting day, next to the ballot boxes,” told the speaker.
The expert also pointed out the presidential debates held in the Islamic Republic, highlighting the fact of the well-established political culture of debates in the neighboring state both in terms of the candidates with different background as well as the use of political technology.
Voskanyan next pointed that the majority of the Armenian community is favorably disposed toward President Rouhani, yet there are also many Armenian devotees among the conservative camp.
