Yerevan to host the 4th Rural life and Traditions Festival
The annual Rural Life and Traditions Festival will take place on September 16 in Yerevan aiming at sustainable agricultural development and assisting the farmers from all over the country to sell their products.
Armenian Deputy Agriculture Minister Armen Harutyunyna noted the festival provides unique opportunity to small-sized farmers to find markets for their products and establish direct links with buyers and new producers.
“International structures and tourists are showing growing interest toward the festival every year. This year’s festival will feature agricultural goods, including organic produce, cultivated with the support of a state program as well as sponsored by a number of local and international organizations,” the deputy minister noted.
Chairwoman at Green Lane NGO Nune Sarikhanyan on her turn informed the festival is expanding its geography year by year, involving new beneficiaries and stakeholders.
“The first Rural Life and Traditions Festival was held in 2014 with only 50 farmer groups participating in the event, while this year some 130 farmer groups, entrepreneurs and small-sized processing companies not only from Armenian provinces but also from neighboring Georgia and Iran are expected to attend the event,” Sarukhanyan said.
According to the ministry estimates, the festival is expected to bring together around 15 thousand visitors and participants.
