Armenian parliament speaker meets with heads of parliaments of Slovakia, Egypt and Benin
On the sidelines of his visit to Saint Petersburg, Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly (NA), Ara Babloyan on Sunday met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Arab Republic of Egypt Ali Abdel-Aal Sayed Ahmed.
Ara Babloyan noted that Armenia-Egypt inter-state relations are at a high level and added that there is a great potential for development of cooperation between the two states in the political, economic, cultural and other spheres, the press service of the Armenian Parliament reported.
At the meeting, the sides noted that the inter-parliamentary ties serve as an important component of the inter-state relations and added that the activation of the legislative bodies' contacts in the bilateral, as well as multi-lateral format promote the development of cooperation between the countries. In this context, the role of the Friendship Groups and the active cooperation was highlighted.
Mr. Babloyan expressed readiness to support any initiative aimed at the development of the Armenian-Egyptian cooperation.
The NA Speaker also met with the President of the Parliament of the Republic of Benin on the latter's initiative on 15 October.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues concerning the activities of the Inter-Parliamentary Union's delegations.
According to the source, Ara Babloyan today held a meeting with Speaker of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, Andrej Danko.
The officials touched upon the sustainable development of the Armenian-Slovak relations, particularly the inter-parliamentary cooperation. The activation of the mutual visits, as well as the cooperation at the level of parliamentary committees and friendship groups were highlighted in terms of making that dialogue continuous.
