Military-technical cooperation with European states an agenda topic for Armenia- defense ministry official
Military-technical cooperation is an agenda topic for Armenia in its relations with European states, Levon Ayvazyan, Chief of Defense Policy Department at the Armenian Ministry of Defense stated today at a press conference ahead of the beginning of the week of NATO in Armenia.
“Cooperation in the military-technical sphere is just one component in the wider defense cooperation framework which is included in the bilateral agendas with some partner states,” Ayvazyan said.
Asked whether conflicts with NATO member states may not restrict the prospects of expanding the cooperation, the defense ministry official noted:” Obviously, there are certain limitations in terms of cooperation that do not necessarily mean the field of cooperation is closed with no possibility to implement programs.”
Ayvazyan went on suggesting the military-technical cooperation with European partners is not limited to purchase of weapons, exemplifying the Armenian-Greek and Armenian-Polish military industry enterprises.
“Negotiations are underway with different countries in this direction with more feasible results to come up over the time,” the Chief of Defense Policy Department noted.
