U.S. says wants to rebuild 'complicated' relationship with Russia
The United States has a complicated relationship with Russia but Washington would like to mend ties with Moscow, U.S. Department of State spokesperson Heather Nauert told a press briefing on Thursday, the State Department’s official website reported.
"It’s a very complicated, complex relationship, and the Secretary has been very clear about where our relationship currently stands. You may recall last year he said that the relationship was at a low point," Nauert told reporters when asked about relations with Russia. "We would like to rebuild that relationship because we have a lot of areas of mutual concern."
She said the DPRK issue is one area of mutual concern. “They have signed on to four successive UN Security Council unanimous resolutions. We need more help from Russia on the matter of North Korea and denuclearization,” Nauert noted.
