MP says Armenia’s snap parliamentary elections may be held in March, April 2019
Armenia may hold snap parliamentary elections between March and April 2019, Tsarukyan faction MP Sergey Bagratyan told a news conference on Friday.
The lawmaker stressed the need to hold parliamentary and non-parliamentary discussions on Armenia’s Electoral Code reforms to make them more effective.
Bagratyan presented the proposals of his faction on electoral reforms, naming fully shifting to the proportional electoral system, excluding double-voting and compiling active and passive voter lists (registering eligible voters residing in Armenia or abroad) among them, with fair and transparent elections as their final goal.
Commenting on the country’s economic situation, the lawmaker stressed strong efforts are being taken to fight corruption in the country though its risks are still there.
