
Any Azeri attempt to destabilize situation poses serious threat to regional peace – parliament speaker
Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly Ara Babloyan visited today U.S. embassy on the occasion of the country’s Independence Day.
The parliament speaker congratulated Ambassador Richard Mills, the embassy staff and the friendly people of the United States on the 242nd anniversary of America’s independence, the parliament’s press service told Panorama.am.
He attached importance to Armenian-American friendship and the close cooperation during the talks with the U.S. envoy.
“It is an honor to host you here today on behalf of the American people, and we look forward to celebrating our independence day this evening with the Armenian people,” said Ambassador Mills.
Touching upon the domestic political developments, Ara Babloyan highlighted the constructive changes aimed at strengthening the democracy in the country, as well as the necessity of holding free and fair snap parliamentary elections.
During the meeting, the Armenian official also voiced concerns over Azerbaijan’s mobilization and accumulation of military equipment and manpower on the Armenia-Azerbaijan and Artsakh-Azerbaijan contact lines. The speaker stressed that any attempt by Azerbaijan to destabilize the situation poses a major threat to the regional peace and stability.
