We have no right to create dividing lines between us and us – Speaker of Parliament
“The Armenian parliament guides us today through the way of a sovereign, democratic, social, legal state,” Speaker of the Armenian parliament Ara Babloyan stated Thursday, addressing the jubilee event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Armenian parliament establishment.
As the speaker stressed, the past centennial came to testify that the representative democracy has fulfilled the free will of the Armenian people, individual rights, the interests of all Armenians and the Armenian statehood, as it is fully aligned with the national psychology and mentality of our people.
“As a society, we are capable of delivering and demanding results. We actually can debate and find solutions, draft laws aimed at regulating the public life and bring them to life. In April-May 2018, the Armenian people and the leadership showed to the world once again the tolerance and exemplary determination to prevent the country from being dragged into shocks. As a result of peaceful demonstrations, the Prime Minister stepped down, the parliament elected a new Prime Minister and adopted the Government programme, helped to return the life to normality. Regretfully, unrest in the Armenian inter-political life has been observing over the recent weeks with manifestation of social polarization after every turmoil. Dear friends, we have no right to create dividing lines between us and us,” the speaker said.
Recalling the idea of unity that has been the primary lesson taught in the history of the Armenian parliamentarism, Babloyan called for discussing all ideas and thoughts in the parliament, naming it “the best political platform.”
