President Sarkissian launched a series of meetings with a number of fractions represented at parliament
Armenia’s President Sarkissian initiated consultations with a number of fractions represented at the country’s National Assembly to discuss the current situation in the country.
As the press department at the President’s Office reported, President Sarkissian met today with the leader of the Republican Party of Armenia fraction at the National Assembly Vahram Baghdassarian.
Armen Sarkissian welcomed the fact that in recent days the political forces have opted for negotiations and stressed the importance of preserving in the country the atmosphere of tolerance and solidarity. He underscored once again that the existing problems can and must be solve through a dialogue, in the framework of the Constitution, in accordance with state and national interests.
Vahram Baghdassarian reiterated the statement of the RPA that while rejecting the arguments brought forth in favor of conducting snap parliamentary elections in December, RPA represented at the National Assembly has had no intention of nominating a candidature for prime minister’s position.
To note, President Sarkissian earlier met with the Speaker of the Parliament Ara Babloyan and PM Nikol Pashinyan.
