Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan confirms deceased businessman Levon Hayrapetyan voiced suspicions of being poisoned
The Primate of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Church Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan confirmed that deceased businessman Levon Hayrapetyan who died in colony, had phoned him the day before his death and voiced suspicions about being poisoned, Artsakhpress reported
"When he phoned, he could hardly speak, […]. I asked him how he felt, and he said that he suspected that he was poisoned. It seemed to me that he was just discouraged from prison life, and I even tried to encourage him, "said the Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan in an interview with the news agency.
To remind earlier Russia’s Investigative Committee launched investigation into the version of poisoning the businessman. Hayrapetyan’s relatives claim the businessman suffered a number of diseases, but his condition was not critical. Lawyer argued further that a few days before the court hearing that was to decide on changing Hayrapetyan’s detention measure, two unknown persons handed the busineman a parcel with medicines. He took all medicine. According to the lawyer, he took the same drugs before, but this time his condition deteriorated sharply
Levon Hayrapetyan, who was known for number of charity programs realized in Artsakh, was found guilty for a controversial embezzlement of $700,000 by Zamoskvoretsky District Court verdict issued on April 14, 2016. The businessman repeatedly pleaded not guilty. According to his lawyer, the case had been framed up.
While being under detention “Freedom to Levon Hayrapetyan” civil initiative numerously voiced the entrepreneur’s deteriorating health condition, expressing serious concern over threats to his life. In one of episodes, he lost consciousness in a Moscow prison and was taken to the medical division. Hayrapetyan died in the Mordovian colony in October 2017.
