Republicans to run for parliament
The former ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) has decided to run in the upcoming early parliamentary elections, a member of the party, ex-Defense Minister Vigen Sargsyan told reporters following the RPA Board Session on Sunday.
“Our country is about to experience a very important event in the near future – the snap elections to the National Assembly. The Republican Party of Armenia has decided to take part in the elections,” he said.
Sargsyan added the party had discussed a key document during the session, with its discussions to further continue for a week.
“It stipulates the Republican Party’s approaches to all processes taking place in the country, the outcomes of the incumbent government’s activities and the problems that we see in terms of our party’s policy and ideological approaches,” he said.
Meantime, RPA spokesman Eduard Sharmazanov told reporters that Vigen Sargsyan had been elected First Deputy Chairman of the Republican Party during Sunday’s session.
