Armenia can become a bridge between EU and EAEU: Armen Sarkissian
President of the Republic of Armenia Armen Sarkissian received today the delegation headed by the Vice-President of the Italian Senate Paola Taverna, consisting of senators Gianluca Castaldi, Vito Vattuone, Mauro del Barba, according to the president’s press office.
They are in Armenia to conduct OSCE observation mission to monitor the snap parliamentary elections scheduled for December 9.
Noting that today Armenia is in the phase of pivotal changes, President Sarkissian attached importance to the progress in strengthening democracy and expressed conviction that the elections will be free and fair.
The officials also discussed Armenian-Italian relations, and agreed that they were successfully developing.
President Sargsyan said he is optimistic about the future of bilateral relations.
He particularly underlined the great potential in economic and cultural spheres and the need to expand the cooperation. Noting that some Italian companies already function in Armenia, and several companies show interest in our country, the President of Armenia said that Armenia, which is a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, can become a bridge between the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union, opening up new opportunities for businessmen and investors.
