Solidarity protest to be organized on the fourth anniversary of the Avetisyan family murder
A group of citizens plan to stage a solidarity protest outside the Russian military base in Armenia’s Gyumri city on January 12 in memory of the Avetisyan family.
As the member of Gyumri Council of Elders Levon Barseghyan wrote on Facebook, the protest comes on the fourth anniversary of the tragic event and coincides with the 40th day of the latest murder of 57-year-old Julietta Ghazaryan by another Russian serviceman.
To remind, six members of one family, including a two-year-old child, were shot dead in their house in Gyumri on January 12. A six-month-old baby was hospitalized with stab wounds. He died in hospital on January 12. Murderer Valery Permyakov, a serviceman of the 102nd Russian military base stationed in Gyumri, was sentenced to life imprisonment over murder of two or more people committed with cruelty, for mercenary motives, and combined with extortion, robbery or banditry. Permyakov currently serves his sentence in Russia.
