Poroshenko to run for second term as Ukraine president
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said he will run for the second term in the presidential election scheduled for March 31. As Ukrinform reports, the president announced this in his speech at a forum in Kyiv.
"The feeling of deep responsibility before the country, before contemporaries, before past and future generations prompted me to decide to run again for the presidency," the source quotes Poroshenko as saying.
The agency details that as of 14:00 on January 29, Ukraine's Central Election Commission registered 22 candidates for the post of Ukraine's president, including ex-PM Yulia Tymoshenko.
The presidential election campaign began in Ukraine on December 31, 2018. The nomination of candidates by political parties or by self-nomination, as well as the submission of documents by candidates to the CEC, will last until February 3, 2019.
