EU to continue and enhance its support to Armenia - Piotr Świtalski
“The EU is ready to continue and enhance its support to Armenia on this important path towards a modern, open and resilient society," EU Ambassador Piotr Świtalski stated on Wednesday during the annual Universal Rights Award 2018 ceremony held in Yerevan.
"In 2018, the democratic world applauded peaceful political change that has taken place in Armenia. Underpinned by the fundamental values of freedom, equality and respect for the human rights, we trust, this course is irreversible,” Ambassador Świtalski said.
To note Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was a guest of honour at the award ceremony organized by the U.S. Embassy, the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia, the United Nations, the Embassy of the United Kingdom, the Council of Europe in Armenia, and the Embassy of Sweden.
As the EU delegation in Armenia reports, Universal Rights Award Ceremony has existed since 2012, and was the first initiative of the international community to highlight the contributions of Armenia’s civil and political rights activists, government officials, media and civil society representatives to promoting human rights. The organisers honoured individuals working in Armenia to promote human rights, freedom of expression, diversity, religious acceptance, democracy, transparency, legal reform and equal rights in the country.
