Aznavour honoured with posthumous BraVo music award
The top prize of the BraVo International Professional Music Awards has been posthumously awarded to legendary French-Armenian singer and songwriter Charles Aznavour for his contribution to the world musical culture.
The awards ceremony took place at the State Kremlin Palace in Moscow 21 March, RIA Novosti reports. The award will be handed over to Aznavour’s family.
Held for the second time, BraVo Awards aims to honor the artists who have an input into classical and pop music.
The world-famous singer passed away on 1 October 2018, at the age of 94. Aznavour was named entertainer of the century in an online poll by CNN and Time magazine in 1999.
In a career spanning over 70 years, he recorded more than 1,200 songs, released 294 albums, performed over 1,000 concerts in 94 countries worldwide and starred in 80 movies. Aznavour sold 180 million records during his lifetime.
