Yerevan mayor seeks broader public discussions around renaming of Presidential Palace

Mayor of Yerevan Hayk Marutyan stresses the need for broader public discussions around the potential renaming of the Presidential Palace into Republic House.

The residence is located on 26 Marshal Baghramyan Avenue in Yerevan and is commonly referred to as Baghramyan 26.

The issue on renaming the building proposed by the president’s office was set to be discussed at Thursday’s City Council session but was removed from the agenda at the beginning of the meeting.

“I think this issue concerns not only the capital, but also the whole republic,” Marutyan said. “It requires broader public discussions, and we will address it again after discussions.”
