An environment conductive to peace is one of Armenia’s priorities – FM Mnatsakanyan
A wide scope of issues based on the dialogue before the Washington meeting was discussed at the recent meeting with Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyarov, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, Foreign Minister of Armenia, told a news conference on Thursday.
Minister Mnatsakanyan pointed to the fact that the meeting was held against the backdrop of the escalation across the Line of Contact preceding the meeting, adding that couldn’t but leave its mark on the talks.
“We discussed all measures necessary to decrease tensions and avoid new developments. We should return to the situation we had before the escalation. It is quite important as we have several initiatives brought forward by the Co-Chairs. I think we will be able to ensure the environment conductive to peace until the next meeting,” Mnatsakanyan said, adding: “One of Armenia’s priorities is the environment conductive to peace talks. That environment contains two components - peoples’ contacts where the atmosphere of hatred prevented. The other component is that we should work in the direction of decreasing the risks of escalation.”
