PM: Armenia condemns Turkey’s military invasion in Syria
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan condemned Turkey’s military incursion into northern Syria at a cabinet meeting on Thursday.
“As you know yesterday Turkey’s military invaded the Syrian Arab Republic. The Armenian Foreign Ministry has issued a relevant statement. I would like to stress once again that the Republic of Armenia condemns that act of invasion. We are concerned about the situation because, in our view, that act will further deepen the humanitarian crisis in Syria,” the PM said.
Pashinyan called on the international community to take effective measures “to stop the illegal operation and to protect the rights of Syrian citizens, including the national minorities, along the Turkish border.”
He noted Armenia will proceed with its humanitarian mission in Syria.
The PM added the government members will discuss the possible developments in northern Syria and Armenia’s positions on the matter in a closed-door meeting following the cabinet meeting.
