Turkish National Security Council meeting addresses Armenian Genocide issue
A meeting of the Turkish National Security Council chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan took place on Tuesday. At the end of the four-hour meeting, a statement summing up the meeting outcomes was made, which showed that it addressed, among other things, the issue of the Armenian Genocide recognition by legislative bodies of different countries, Ermenihaber reports.
The part of the statement related to the Armenian Genocide topic read: “The decisions about the events of 1915 based on groundless claims, have been strongly condemned. The attention of the international community has been drawn to the fact that it is time to disclose the reality.”
Issues related to the Turkish military operation in north Syria and the establishment of a security zone were also discussed during the meeting. According to the statement, the operation "launched to eliminate terrorists and create conditions for safe return of Syrian refugees" will continue until it reaches its goals.
