The army will get stronger than ever – defense minister
The new armament and military capabilities necessary for the Armed Forces to implement their tasks have increased, Armenia’s Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan told reporters at Yerablur Military Pantheon where the country’s highest leadership pays tribute to homeland defenders on the occasion of Armenian Army Day. The minister said military capabilities have increased by ‘tens of per cents.’
Speaking of the reforms in the Army, the minister pointed to the outsource of the Armenian military’s canteen services, adding 40 percent of the military units have switched to the new format and their canteens are managed by private contractors. In his words, works are underway to ensure that all military unites have the new service in place in 2020.
At the request of reporters to update on the delivery of the next batch of SU 30 fighter jets, Tonoyan said: “Soon.” Asked about the expectations for 2020, the minister said the army will get stronger than ever.
