Armenia intends to strengthen cooperation with Iran despite US sanctions – IRNA
Yerevan intends to develop cooperation with Tehran against the backdrop of tough US sanctions against Iran, IRNA Iranian news agency quoted Armenian Ambassador to Iran Artashes Tumanyan as saying during a meeting with the governor of Kerman on Wednesday.
"With investors refusing to cooperate with Iran amid US sanctions, the Republic of Armenia and Iran can develop cooperation in many areas," the Armenian diplomat said.
According to him, relations between Iran and Armenia have always been friendly, and the Armenian side wants them to be further strengthened and developed.
Tumanyan also recalled that the interim agreement enabling formation of a free trade area between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Iran opens up a good opportunity to expand cooperation between Tehran and Yerevan.
