Armenian defense minister, CSTO chief meet in Yerevan
Armenian Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan held a meeting with Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Secretary General Stanislav Zas in Yerevan on Thursday.
The CSTO chief is currently on a working visit to Armenia, the Defense Ministry said in a press release.
Tonoyan congratulated Zas on his appointment as Secretary General of the Russia-led security bloc.
“The meeting addressed issues of international and regional security, as well as the process of further developing the military component of the CSTO,” the ministry said.
The officials also discussed the development of the CSTO crisis response system, the increase of the potential of the CSTO Collective Rapid Response Forces and Peacekeeping Forces, the improvement of the system of representatives of the organization’s military network, the joint combat readiness exercises, as well as issues related to the organization of joint events marking the 75th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War.
