Politik.am: Armenian PM goes into hiding in US Embassy
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has reportedly gone into hiding in the US Embassy in Armenia after Russian-brokered agreement with Azerbaijan to stop the war in Artsakh, largely viewed by his critics as an act of surrender.
“When it became known that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had handed over the seven regions of Artsakh and Shushi, mass protests erupted in the capital and different parts of the country. The demonstrators broke into the government building, the National Assembly building and the prime minister's residence,” Politik.am reported.
“Rumors were circulating that Nikol Pashinyan has hid in the shelter of the Ministry of Defense. According to our government sources, during this time Pashinyan has also gone into hiding in the building of the US Embassy to Armenia. The embassy building is the safest place for him,” the media outlet said.
After the post-election events in Yerevan on March 1, 2008, Pashinyan again hid in the building of the US Embassy.
