Azerbaijanis issued strict instructions to Armenian prisoners what to tell the ICRC representatives, Ombudsman says
"The Armenian prisoners have confessed in their private talks that Azerbaijanis had instructed them what to tell the representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) ahead of their visits to detention centers," Armenian Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan told reporters on Thursday in parliament. In Tatoyan's words, Azeris have even threatened them and warned against telling the truth about the real treatment toward them in Baku prisoners.
In the Ombudsman's words, this report has been confirmed by prisoners not only to him but also their lawyers, adding Azerbaijanis have talked to only those prisoners who were selected to meet the ICRC representatives in Baku.
"As we were told, ahead of the visits of the ICRC representatives or Russian military, Azerbaijanis used to take selected prisoners to a basement or some other place for instructions," said Tatoyan.
Speaking of the engineering works underway by Azerbaijanis in Khoznavar village and in the area near Tegh village, Tatoyan informed that Azeris are conducting active engineering works near Sev Lich (Black Lake) as well and a movement is observed through the nearby roads.
"The more they strengthen their positions, the greater risks are for the civilian population living near the border," said Tatoyan.
