EU's Klaar welcomes release of five Armenian POWs
Toivo Klaar, the European Union's special representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, has welcomed the release of five Armenian prisoners of war by Azerbaijan.
The five captives repatriated from Azerbaijan late on Thursday are Martin Aghramanyan (born 1996), Ashot Gevorgyan (born 1998), Feliks Grigoryan (born 1996), Varazdat Manukyan (born 1990) and Edik Hovsepyan (born 1999).
“Welcome news today regarding the release of five Armenian detainees by Azerbaijan following the meeting of the leaders in Brussels on 31/8,” Klaar said in a tweet.
“Important humanitarian gesture & likewise noteworthy that the handover took place without intermediaries,” he added.
