Armenia's ex-deputy minister of economy placed under house arrest
Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Court has ordered former Deputy Minister of Economy Ani Ispiryan to be placed under house arrest for two months, Supreme Judicial Council spokesperson Lilit Shaboyan told Panorama.am on Friday.
Ispiryan was taken for questioning from her office early on January 31 after she was sacked by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Armenia’s Investigative Committee said in a statement earlier that six employees of the ministry were arrested in a corruption investigation.
The arrests came after the Investigative Committee and the National Security Service (NSS) on Wednesday conducted searches in 15 locations, including the ministry building in Yerevan, as part of two criminal investigations.
