An appellate court in Yerevan has ordered the release of Vahagn Vermishyan, former chairman of Armenia’s Urban Development Committee, four years after his detention, his lawyer revealed on Monday.
“This is a historic moment in my career. Former Chairman of the Urban Development Committee Vahagn Vermishyan will be set free today, after four years and one month of unlawful detention,” Alexander Kochubaev wrote on Facebook.
“The Anti-Corruption Court of Appeals granted a motion for his release,” the lawyer said.
