Five activists of the Tavush for the Homeland protest movement were set free on Friday night, reported lawyer Varazdat Harutyunyan, a member of the Five Human Rights Activists initiative protecting the rights of protesters.
The activists, who included Ishkhan Gevorgyan, an Artsakh war veteran and a board member of Azatazen NGO, and his companions Andranik Yeghoyan, Hrachya Tovmasyan, Gari Avagyan and Hayk Mesropyan, were arrested on suspicion of illegal possession of weapons late on May 14.
No weapons were not found during the searches.
The Tavush for the Homeland movement has been actively protesting the Armenian government’s unilateral territorial concessions to Azerbaijan, with acts of civil disobedience staged in Yerevan since May 9.
