Serzh Sargsyan reiterates support for movement led by Archbishop Bagrat
Former President Serzh Sargsyan, chair of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), on Wednesday reiterated his team’s support for the protest movement in Armenia led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan.
“I believe the movement has gained momentum and will succeed if all opportunities are used properly,” he told reporters following a hearing in his trial on Wednesday.
Asked whether he endorses the archbishop’s nomination for prime minister, Sargsyan said: "I wouldn’t like to speak to it. We have expressed our position in a statement of the RPA Executive Body, as well as in numerous statements of our teammates. We will support any prime ministerial candidate proposed by Archbishop Bagrat.”
