Speaker calls for dissolution of Armenia-Karabakh inter-parliamentary commission
Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan on Monday insisted on dissolving the inter-parliamentary commission between Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, arguing that "the other party is no longer legitimate”.
His comments came in response to opposition MP Artsvik Minasyan’s question whether he planned to call a meeting of the commission anytime soon.
“I believe the format should be dissolved because the other party is no longer legitimate,” Simonyan told a parliament session.
“The issue of cancelling the format must be seriously considered as there are no officials of Nagorno Karabakh/Artsakh anymore, no one holds such a status in Armenia any longer. I don’t know whom I would have to discuss any issues in case of such a meeting," the speaker added.
