Shirak Torosyan: “Vashadze is cynic”
The visit of Georgia’s Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze to Armenia and his joint news conference with Armenian FM Edward Nalbandyan is, in fact, the most debating issue among Armenian media. This isn’t surprising at all, since Georgian official has delivered rather contradictory statements.
National Assembly Deputy Shirak Torosyan talked to Panorama.am and stated that particularly Vashadze’s visits have never been productive for the resolution of Djavakhq conflicts, but Georgian diplomat’s freshest statement is really ridiculous. “Vashadze’s statement that “I don’t know what Djavakhq is, and there is no such territory on the map” is a cynicism, which doesn’t suit to a diplomat.”

Mr. Torosyan suggested organizing of special studies in order Georgia’s Foreign Minister could know that there exists Samtskhe-Djavakhq administrative unity, the major part of which is populated by Armenians. “Doesn’t he know there are Akhalqalak, Ninotsminda, Tsalka and other regions on the map of Georgia. They should recognize those territories and solve their problems, since they are citizens of Georgia and they pay their fees,” NA Deputy said adding if it’s normal that the Foreign Minister is unaware of a huge territory, the people of which commit its duties before the state.
G. Vashadze declared Armenian schools are in normal conditions and that 103 schools have been repaired. Armenian Deputy expressed his deepest surprise how Georgian FM could not differentiate between those schools repaired by the Armenian Government and those by Georgian. NA Deputy said 8-10 are supposed to be repaired by Georgian Government.

“There is no problem which is impossible to settle through Armenian-Georgian negotiations.” This is a statement made by the Georgian FM during the news conference. Nobody believes this is true, since we’ve lots of problems of different kinds but neither has been solved through those negotiations.
“We’re guided by the principle of having good ties with Georgia, but we pay an expensive coast for that,” Republican Deputy Shirak Torosyan told Panorama.am.
The Deputy agreed with our observation that Armenian-Georgian ties are like chasing of a cat in a dark room; everybody knows we have problems, even our authorities, including the Foreign Minister, but…

“Making Djavakhq populated by Georgians and Armenians quitting those lands is more serious than warm Armenian-Georgian ties, because after losing Djavakhq we can never have any sort of communication,” Shirak Torosyan said.
The Deputy is going to deliver statements Tuesday on this respect, and request the Government Wednesday.
