David Babayan on Warlick’s tweet: There is no place for any show here
Official Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh Republic) welcomes any discussions on a resolution to the Karabakh conflict, especially discussions held in a country co-chairing the OSCE Minsk Group, the spokesman for the president of the NKR David Babayan told Panorama.am when he commented on Ambassador James Warlick’s tweet about discussions on Karabakh conflict settlement held in Washington on January 20.
To remind, on January 20 the U.S. Co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group James Warlick wrote on Twitter: “Excellent discussions today in Washington on the Nagorno-#Karabakh conflict and #NKpeace”.
“The matter concerns constructive discussions. There is no place for any show here,” Babayan said.
According to him, Artsakh welcomes any comprehensive discussion aiming to find a peaceful resolution to the problem. “In general, I consider the participation of Artsakh in such discussions as mandatory,” Babayan noted.
He told Panorama.am that he currently has no information about who from Artsakh attended the discussions in Washington. He promised to verify this information.
“As a co-chair, Warlick should do everything to ensure impartiality of such talks, otherwise no serious progress in the problem’s settlement can be expected,” David Babayan said.
The correspondent of Panorama.am also asked political scientist Armen Minasyan to give an assessment of the event. “It depends on the perspective, from which you look at this. The situation will be worse if discussions are held only in Moscow. It would be a good thing if they did not discuss it at all,” Minasyan said.
