Arman Navasardyan: There will be no Third World War
“I don’t think that there will be significant changes when Saudi Arabia’s forces enter Syria”,-said Arman Navasardyan, former vice-minister of Foreign Affairs of the RA.
As for Turkey, Navasardyan thinks that by taking active measures on the border, Turkey wants the world to decide whether it is on Kurdish or Turkish side.
“Kerry and Lavrov met yesterday, since talks in Geneva were canceled. It was decided that the military operations would be stopped on March 1. But, this is about stopping military operations between opposition and government, and this decision does not concern the ISIS”, Navasardyan noted.
He stated that the situation will continue to be tense. “Everyone is concerned with the question whether the war starts. I don’t think that the Third World War will be launched. But I also don’t think that this situation will be changed. I don’t see the solution”, said Navasardyan.
As for Armenia, Navasardyan stated that we should be ready for provocative actions by Turkish and Azerbaijani sides.
Navasardyan also spoke about the possible termination of the Moscow treaty of 1921 by Russian Duma. He noted that this treaty is very unique and that there were talks on terminating it back in 1945 as well. “We don’t have anything common with that treaty and its termination would give nothing to Armenia”, said Navasardyan.
There are different scenarios of the escalation of the military operations between Russia and Turkey.
“US is fully against of the Russian-Turkish war. But because of Russia’s current active stance in region, Turkey tries to come back to this area”, said Navasardyan.
