MES considers using small vehicles and motorbikes to deliver emergency services
Armenian Ministry of Emergency (MES) has acquired 2-3 motorbikes and considers obtaining additional small low-cost vehicles to deliver emergency services, Haykaram Mkhitaryan, the deputy minister of the Emergency Situations told at the National Assembly on Monday.
Mr. Mkhitaryan’s announcement came during the discussion of the draft law on making amendments to the Rescue Service Code of Rules. Answering the question about the reasonability of using fire trucks to get to open locked doors, the deputy minister said. “We consider using small vehicles and motor bikes in the future,” adding the big vehicles normally consume much fuel and ultimately are inefficient.
The minister next informed that the ministry plans to add another fire brigade to Gyumri’s Ani-Mush district, since the second largest city of Armenia depends on only one fire brigade.
Mkhitaryan next informed that around 36 fire trucks are to set to arrive from Japan and be distributed in all Armenia’s regions.
