Swedish PM welcomes Armenia’s policy of becoming bridge between EEU and EU
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan met with Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfvén in Riga, the President’s press office reports.
The parties discussed issues related to Armenian-Swedish relations and multifaceted cooperation, as well as to promoting cooperation between Armenia and the European Union (EU) within the framework of the Eastern Partnership.
Noting that Armenia is among the EU’s strategic partners in the region, the Swedish Prime Minister welcomed Armenia’s policy towards becoming a bridge connecting the Eurasian Economic Union and the EU which he is sure may grow into an important platform for cooperation.
The Armenian President and Sweden’s Prime Minister gave particular importance to trade and economic ties and stressed the need to make joint efforts towards stimulating and encouraging Swedish investments and new companies’ entry into the Armenian market.
Serzh Sargsyan and Stefan Löfvén placed importance on the activities of the respective embassies in Yerevan and Stockholm in the further strengthening of Armenian-Swedish relations.
The interlocutors also discussed issues related to promoting collaboration between the two countries within international organizations.
President Sargsyan thanked the Swedish authorities for Sweden’s official participation in the commemorative events marking the Armenian Genocide Centenary held in Yerevan in April this year.
