Exposition of “Open Game” Championship of Computer and Mobile Games to take place on Oct. 26

On October 26, from 12:00 to 17:00, Moscow Cinema will host the Public Expo of the games presented at the “Open Game” Championship of Computer and Mobile Games, followed by the awards ceremony. Everyone interested in this domain is invited to visit the Expo to see, test and play the computer and mobile games developed by young Armenians, the press service of Orange Armenia reports.

“Open Game” Championship has been held since 2011 and has an objective to boost the game development domain in Armenia, create a new business environment, develop a “Made in Armenia” brand in this domain and penetrate the international market. It also aims at revealing young talents and motivating them to continue their activity in the field of computer and mobile games development.

“This year we have focused on inspiration and motivation of young talents. As every year this year as well improvement in quality of presented games is noticeable. Some of the games are already available on the market; the rest are still under development. On October 26 the visitors of the Expo will be able to test and play the presented games, as well as vote for their preferred one,” said Karen Vardanyan, the Executive Director of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises.

20 games are presented at the “Open Game 2014” championship Expo. This year inhabitants of not only Yerevan, but also Spitak and Armavir have joined the contest.

The participants of the contest are competing in 8 nomination categories, such as Best Game, Best Mobile Game, Best Game Play (script), Innovation, Best Design, Best 3D Solution, Junior Championship and Popularity Prize. During the Expo, the visitors will have the chance to see the works presented by the participant, as well as vote for their favorite game. Popularity Prize will be awarded to the game which will receive the most amount of public votes. The “Best Game” of the contest will have the unique opportunity to participate in Casual Connect, held in Belgrade, and to be presented at the Indie Prize showcase. The Prize fund of the contest makes 3,500,000 AMD.

““Open Game” championship has already become a traditional event in the Armenian game development field. This year we have a special surprise for the participants - one of them will have an exceptional opportunity to pass an internship in France at one of the application development units of the Orange Group. Alexandre Minos, who has arrived from France to select the winner of this special Orange Prize, will together with Orange specialists review the games participating in the contest and choose the winner,” said Aram Mkrtchyan, Brand and Communications Director of Orange Armenia.

The internship granted in the frame of Orange Prize will be paid, while the airplane tickets will be provided by Orange Armenia.

“Open Game” Armenian Open Championship of Computer and Mobile Game Developers is organized for the 4th time in a row by the Union of Information Technology Enterprises and Orange Armenia. This year “SoftConstruct” has also joined the initiative as a general sponsor.

““SoftConstruct” company has followed closely the “Open Game” championship and supported the participants of the contest, and we are pleased to notice such a significant progress made by the Armenian game developers. We are particularly glad that inhabitants of the regions have as well participated in the contest. We are pleased by the results of our cooperation with UITE and Orange Armenia and are ready to continue it,” said Tatevik Hakobyan, Customer Care Manager of “SoftConstruct.”

The Jury of the contest is composed of professional game developers, programmers and designers from Orange Armenia, Frismos, Plexonic, Triada, SoftConstruct, HitBits, Zoom Graphics companies and Union of Information Technology Enterprises.
