Serzh Sargsyan said Turkey failed the demand of ratifying protocols
We haven’t closed the doors, but we won’t either take further initiative, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan told Ria-Novosti answering to the question in what round the Armenian-Turkish ties are and what the official Yerevan’s disposition is.
“We’ll discuss the possibility to advance, when we’re sure that Turkey has got that atmosphere, when we see that Ankara’s officials are ready to normalize the ties. Armenia doesn’t withdraw its signature from the protocols, since we are willing to keep the possibility to normalize ties, we want peace. Our mission related to the settlement of Armenian-Turkish ties remains the same,” President Sargsyan said.

“Pacta sunt servanda principle defines the deals should be kept; it’s a basic norm of international rights. Armenian-Turkish protocols are the aftermath of a long and not so easy negotiations, when the both sides expressed their dispositions, both sides have clarified the borders of possibility and impossibility. In this respect the Armenian side excludes conditioning the issue with another other problems.”
President Sargsyan stated that the international community has also pointed that the protocols should be signed within a reasonable short time frames and without preconditions. “Turkey failed both points of that test,” President Sargsyan said.
