Observer: Yerevan municipal elections were competitive
Unlike the presidential elections held in February, Yerevan municipal elections were competitive, due to which there was tension in the electoral process, deputy head of Transparency International Anti-corruption Center Sona Ayvazyan told a news conference on Tuesday.
Transparency International Anti-corruption Center carried out monitoring of the May 5 municipal elections in Yerevan.
According to Sona Ayvazyan, the voting was more successful and peaceful in those polling stations which were observed but there were some polling stations where violations were committed.
The Center registered violations like violation of the rights of its observers, threats to observers, gatherings at polling stations, unauthorized persons entering the polling station, transportation of voters by public transport, violations by candidates for the Council of Elders.
