Armenia said ‘no’ to EU rather than ‘yes’ to CU – Giragosian
Armenia is a more stable country than its neighboring states. However, that advantage is endangered. The Armenian President has not yet clarified the circumstances of Armenia’s entry into the Customs Union. Russia has not said either how and when Armenia will join the CU, Richard Giragosian, political scientist, Director of the Regional Studies Center (RSC), told reporters in Yerevan, while commenting on the regional situation ahead of the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius.
“The September 3 meeting of the Armenian and Russian Presidents in Moscow was aimed at Yerevan’s saying ‘no’ to the European Union rather than at its saying ‘yes’ to the Customs Union,” Giragosian said.
At the same time, the analyst said that Armenian-Russian relations are very important.
