Russian envoy: Events of 1915 must be assessed exactly
Ambassador of Russia to Armenia Ivan Volynkin today visited Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex in Yerevan to commemorate the victims of the Armenian Genocide. Speaking to reporters, he said that the events of 1915 must be assessed exactly.
“This is really a great tragedy, not only for the Armenian people, but also for Europe and the entire mankind. We must always remember our history because there is no future without history and without past,” he said.
According to the envoy, this issue must be voiced as frequently as possible so that such tragedies will never be repeated.
The Armenian Genocide was recognized by Uruguay, Russia, France, Lithuania, the Italian Chamber of Deputies, majority of U.S. states, parliaments of Greece, Cyprus, Argentina, Belgium and Wales, National Council of Switzerland, Chamber of Commons of Canada, Polish Sejm, Vatican, European Parliament and the World Council of Churches.
