US ambassador to Armenia: ‘‘Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan are to meet in close future’’
“As you know the US is one of the Minsk Group co-chairing countries, which mediates this conflict. The co-chairs regularly have meetings in order to discuss the future steps. We hope that in not so far future the presidents of two countries will also meet,” told today US ambassador to Armenia John Heffern answering the question on what is based the status quo existing between Armenia and Azerbaijan considering the fact that the subversive actions on the border increase.
According to him the address of the co-chairs is quite clear, “There is only one way for solving this conflict – the peaceful settlement through negotiation.”
Ambassador noted that the OSCE Minsk Group criticizes the military rhetoric and condemns the violations. It also expresses its condolences to those who suffer the incidents that take place on the border.
“United States Secretary of State John Kerry has reaffirmed our commitment on our way to reach a peaceful settlement through negotiations,” the ambassador told.
