Resumption of large-scale hostilities in Karabakh is not beneficial to Aliyev clan – former MP
The downing of unarmed Karabakh helicopter by Azerbaijani forces was Azerbaijan’s revenge for its heavy losses this summer and that incident was widely covered by Azerbaijani media, former MP, Yerevan State University (YSU) lecturer Vardan Khachatryan told reporters on Thursday.
According to Khachatryan, the Armenian side should take such measures that will be more painful for Azerbaijan. Meanwhile, he said that this incident should not lead to large-scale hostilities.
He noted that it is not beneficial for the Azerbaijani authorities and Aliyev clan to start large-scale hostilities because it may lead to replacement of Aliyev clan.
A MI-24 helicopter of the NKR Air Force was shot down on November 12 in the airspace in the eastern direction of the Karabakh-Azerbaijani border due to a ceasefire violation by the Azerbaijani armed forces. The area where the helicopter was shot down was at a very short distance from the Line of Contact. The enemy opened heavy fire from guns of various calibers at the incident site.
