Nuland hopeful for peace in region
Normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations remains a priority issue for the region and these two countries, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland told reporters in Yerevan, adding that it is of key importance that Armenia has not abandoned the process.
Mrs Nuland said that today she met with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, civil society representatives, and visited Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex. She stressed that the visit to the Armenian Genocide Memorial was very exciting and was an important part of her trip.
The U.S. diplomat expressed concern over the escalation of violence along the Line of Contact. “We are hopeful that peace will be established in the region in the coming weeks,” she said.
