ISIS drone shot down by Peshmerga
An ISIS drone that was reportedly spying on Peshmerga bases on the Gwer front was shot down by Kurdish forces, a Peshmerga source told Rudaw Tuesday.
“Around 10:30 am, Peshmerga forces shot down an unpiloted drone of ISIS militants that was flying over Sechal village on the Gwer frontline,” the source said. He added that the drone was likely being used for intelligence gathering.
This is not the first time ISIS has reportedly used drones. Another ISIS drone was previously shot down by US warplanes in March.
The shootdown took place in the city of Fallujah in Anbar province during fighting between Iraqi forces and ISIS. The Fallujah drone was reported as “small-scale” by US defense officials.
