Armenian PM: ArmTech Congress is important platform for dissemination of innovative technologies

The annual high-tech ArmTech Congress in Armenia is an important platform that helps disseminate innovative technologies, identify new investment and business opportunities, and showcase the achievements of the sphere, Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan said at the opening of ArmTech Congress 2015 in Yerevan today.

In his words, in recent years Armenia has made significant progress in IT and high-tech sectors, which is also due to the efficient government policy.

The prime minister reminded those present that in a bid to give renewed impetus to the sector’s development and encourage the creation of new companies and jobs, a legislative package was adopted last year. The package aims to support the IT industry, with tax privileges given to certified start-up companies in the sector.

“As a result, about 50 startup companies and over 200 new jobs were created in the sector within a few months,” the PM said.
“We are consistent while continuing with the policy on the further development of IT industry in Armenia,” Hovik Abrahamyan said.
